Good Beer Guide UK's Leading Guide to Real Ale pubs

Good Beer Guide 2018

CAMRA's Good Beer Guide is arguably the UK's leading guide to real ale pubs and breweries across the UK.

Each year the guide is rewritten with the featured pubs being selected and surveyed by local CAMRA branch members.

The guide also includes information on every real ale brewery and their key beers.

How do we select our pubs?

After visiting a local pub, CAMRA members grade the real ale they have been drinking using CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System (NBSS). This system rates the quality of a real ale from 0 to 5, where 0 is undrinkable and 5 for when a real ale is in superb condition.

At the end of the year all the real pubs in the branch are ranked according to their beer scores and the best are selected to feature in the next edition of the Good Beer Guide. Landlords cannot ask nor can they pay to be featured in the guide.

Is your favourite pub missing from the Guide?

There is fierce competition to get into the Good Beer Guide, with far more potential candidates than there are spaces.

However, one reason why your pub has not been featured is because it has not received a sufficient number of beer scores from CAMRA members to be considered as a candidate.
