main/backthepub.jpg Stop the Beer Tax Double Whammy
15th June 2010

We need your help to stop a beer tax double whammy in the emergency budget next week by targeting the Chancellor directly. Recent reports have suggested that not only will George Osborne put up VAT, which would put 6p on the price of a pint and cost 7,000 jobs, but he's also planning an additional tax rise on beer as well! Lobby the Chancellor by clicking here.

main/berry.png The Berry, Walmer is Branch Pub of the Year 2010
16th March 2010

One of the foremost real ale pubs in the area has done it again. For the third year in succession The Berry, on Canada Road in Walmer, has won the local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch Pub of the Year award.

The award reflects the hard work that Chris Barnes, the landlord, has put in since taking over The Berry: the quality of his real ales and his efforts in promoting real ale and real cider.

We also take this opportunity to praise the other pubs that were nominated for this award (in alphabetical order): Blakes, Dover; Eight Bells, Dover; Louis Armstrong, Dover; Plough & Harrow, Tilmanstone; Ship Inn, Deal. The fact that they were nominated reflects highly on the consistently high-quality of real ale they serve.
